Organisational Leadership

Organisational Leadership:

SAHWR's leadership team and Board of Trustees are passionate about our work. They have many years of experience working with survivors of domestic abuse.

In addition, they are highly skilled and experienced in delivering complex services to vulnerable people.

They drive our person-centred approach and lead the direction of the charity.

  • Maralyn Pollard (Chair)

    Maralyn has volunteered with SAHWR for over 40 years and been on the board since 1994. Her background is in nursing and local community activities. She applies this knowledge and experience to further SAHWR.

    Maralyn brings a wealth of expertise and contacts that have been key to securing grant applications and accommodation for SAHWR service users.

  • Hilary Walker (Treasurer)

    Hilary joined SAHWR in November 2015, becoming the Company Secretary in 2016. She has a background working as the Finance Manager for a large company specialising in Live-in care.

    Hilary has studied at the Open University, is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, and is now semi-retired, assisting SAHWR with financial tasks when necessary.

  • Fiona Skene

    Fiona graduated from Edinburgh University, achieved her diploma in Personal Management (CIPD), and began her career with a Borough Council. Fiona’s current post has been Head of Human Resources at Runnymede Borough Council for the past five years.

    Fiona joined SAHWR as a Trustee in 2015, involved in HR development, appraisals and providing HR advice.

  • Shirley Bennett (Company Secretary)

    Shirley started her career as a secretary and became a self-employed part-time bookkeeper.

    Shirley became involved with SAHWR as a bookkeeper in 2014, following a recommendation from their accountant. She oversaw payroll and became a Trustee in 2016.

  • Sarah Llewellyn-Jones

    Sarah has background of working in Life Insurance both in the UK and New Zealand, supporting IT Business Development Teams and delivering Training.  She currently works as Bookkeeper for a Children's Nursery and is a local Brownie Leader. 

    Sarah joined the SAHWR Board as a Trustee in 2024.

  • Nicky Mitchell

    Nicky brings a wealth of experience across multiple sectors, including early years, social care, and secondary education with a deep understanding of safeguarding and special educational needs (SEN).

    Currently, Nicky works in a secondary school and serves as staff governor.  She joined the Board in 2025.
