“I wanted to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for you and everyone at SAHWR. It's hard to know where to begin, but after my life was turned upside down and I began seeking help, it was an incredibly daunting experience. Unfortunately, I encountered many unfriendly and cold individuals along the way, which made me contemplate whether I might be better off staying in an abusive marriage.
However, it wasn’t until I reached out to SAHWR that I truly found a sense of relief. I cannot thank ‘staff’ enough. I absolutely loved the girls - they felt like sisters to me, we shared laughter, tears and countless moments that helped me heal. They created such a safe space and were always there with a listening ear and ready to help. I truly believe it was because of them that I regained my confidence.
They did an amazing job of making everyone feel comfortable, safe, and heard. They maintained professionalism while also allowing us to feel like they were our friends and sisters. Not only did they excel in their roles, but they consistently went above and beyond for us. I am eternally grateful and will always feel indebted to you guys.
Before I found ‘SAHWR’, I thought that if I ever had to go through something like this again, I would stay in the relationship due to all the doors that had been shut in my face and the authority figures who didn't seem to think I was ‘desperate enough,’ since I was too scared to move across the country.
But God forbid I ever find myself in that situation again, or if I meet someone going through the same thing, I will never stop singing your praises. I would recommend SAHWR without hesitation. It truly lives up to its purpose and is a safe haven for women who are broken. I look forward to the day that I'm able to give back to you guys somehow!

“My stay at the refuge was amazing! I enjoyed working with my Children Support Worker and playing with the others. I really enjoyed making slime and cooking hotdogs and ‘smores’ with the staff and other families.
Everyone there was so kind and helpful. I am glad we were there as a family and was able to have fun playing in the garden with my sister.”

“My outreach worker was amazing from the start. I didn’t know how I was going to cope or manage after having everything taken from me. She assured me that this was natural to feel like that after such an ordeal. She carried me through this year with ups and a lot more downs, always there patiently, nothing ever too much trouble. Guiding me to the right sort of help I needed. She was most patient when I couldn’t think straight or see the light…listening to me sobbing and confused. She helped me believe in myself even when I couldn’t.
The support I had was second to none from her. There are not enough words to thank her or carrying me through this awful ordeal.
