SAHWR complete the St Albans Walking Half Marathon
Our successful walkers collected their medals and celebrated with an ice lolly!
On Sunday 8th June, some members of the SAHWR Board of Trustees and staff team took part in the Walking St Albans Half Marathon.
For anyone who knows St Albans, it wasn’t a straight forward flat walk and at times seemed like more of a hike but the team stuck in and managed to complete the route in under 4 hours!
The team prepare to set off following a “prep” talk from Maralyn, SAHWR Chairperson.
For some, it was the first time embarking on a long walk. The day started at 7:30 at Verulamium Park in St Albans where the chairperson of SAHWR, Maralyn Pollard, sent the team off with a cheer.
Our Head of Domestic Abuse Services, Gemma Magee-Herd commented “We are so incredibly thankful to all those who donated so far, we would love nothing better than to reach our target. All money donated will go towards those who have experienced Domestic Abuse.”
To date, the team have raised over £1,600, which is an incredible achievement!
