SAHWR secure funding from Garfield Weston Foundation

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful with a funding application to Garfield Weston Foundation and they have awarded the charity £30,000 to support us with the general upkeep and refurbishment of our Safe Accommodation facilities. This funding will ensure we are able to continue to provide an environment that supports the recovery journey for survivors of domestic abuse.

Maralyn Pollard, Chair of Trustees commented “This is amazing news and I would like to thank Garfield Weston for their generous award and support of the work of our charity. This funding will allow us to complete some repairs, redecorate a number of our properties and ensure we can offer high quality bedrooms and facilities to the families who come to access Safe Accommodation with us”.

Each year we have to maintain, decorate and repair:

  • 26 Bedrooms.

  • 23 Bathrooms.

  • 8 Kitchens.

  • 4 Communal areas.

  • 1 Playroom.

  • 4 Gardens.

In addition, we have to replace:

  • Internal door locks.

  • Fire extinguishers and smoke alarms.

  • Bathroom accessories (shower heads, fixtures and fittings etc).

  • Electrical fittings.

  • Emergency lighting, signage and exits.

  • “White goods” and bedroom furniture.
